giddy with anticipation
The Bustos house is getting a little giddy. The kids are just waiting for Christmas morning, I am getting ready to go to Michigan the day after Christmas and Jeff is looking forward to some well deserved time off from work. I am making more snowball ornaments that can fit on the tree so we now have a bowl full of them!
We hope everyone has a very merry Christmas with the people you love and very happy New Year!

decorations and lights
Yesterday we put up the old favorite decoration of construction paper chain links constructed by the little ones. They were so proud. Then we went for our annual walk through the botanic gardens to see the lights. The kids were amazed as they are every year but this year was extra special...they got 3D glasses which made every light look like a snowflake. Can't get much more fun than that!

Watch out Rachel Ray
The kids have so much fun pretending to cook. Usually Ryan will give you a menu, take your order and proceed to cook and serve you your food. A one women show! Both kids love to watch the food network. Definitely taking after their dad. Tonight they helped make their favorite dinner...pizza. Ryan was very serious and even did a little commentating. Here is the finished product.

hey mom...look at me!
aah! Ryan and Cole are really exploring the new house now. The other day Ryan called me into the room to show me her new trick. She scaled the outside of the staircase to the top with ease. Wow, it scared me and made me smile at the same time. What will she think of next? and do I really want to know?

As Cole would say...
"It's almost Christmas Tree!"
We put up our Christmas tree last night. It's nice to have something in our front living room now (we haven't quite furnished all of our rooms yet). The kids had so much fun hanging ornaments and the tree looks great even though most of the ornaments are on the bottom half and many even on the same branch! Ryan graced us with a "Christmas show" of singing and dancing and Cole was happy with a candy cane.
Oh the bubbling excitement in our children's eyes.

New Edition!
Ryan and Cole have a new cousin...
Uncle Jacob and Auntie Kat had a little boy November 18th. Everyone is happy and healthy. The squishy bundle of cuteness has not been named yet but I am told that he is super cute! We are all so excited to meet him at Christmas. (Although Ryan was really hoping for girl...so pressure is on Uncle Markie and Auntie Liz!)
We are finally enjoying some winter weather here in Denver, so it's a good thing we all have plenty of hats!

my latest
I took a break from baby hats and made Jeff one. I ran into a great yarn sale in Angel Fire, New Mexico this summer and bought some really beautiful yarn. This hat was made with Noro yarn that Jeff picked out. What a treat to work with such amazing yarn, and I finally made a hat for Jeff that covers his ears ( I have always underestimated the size of his noggin...they don't call him charlie brown for nothing!)

"isn't it lovely"
As promised...here are snippets of our lovely wallpaper. Strangely I am sort of getting used to it! The very loud orange flower print is in our laundry room and I think it is so ugly that I love it... We are actually going to keep it!

piles of leaves
This new house is keeping us busy...today we raked our backyard. We never had to do this at the old house seeing that we planted all of the trees so they were not big enough to have to rake. To our delight we now have very mature poplar trees and many clumps of aspens. Who knew raking leaves could be so much fun.

Happy Halloween
We are in finally in the new house. We are slowly but surely settling in and we all love it! Cole is in a "big boy" bed now and seemed to adjust just fine. We are almost out of boxes and took some time off from unpacking to carve pumpkins and go trick-or-treating at Ryan's school. This year we have a dinosaur and a ballerina. The ballerina was a last attempt to convince Ryan not to be a princess again this year and Cole seems to transform with his costume on...he speaks in growl!
More pictures of the new house to come.
